Hello there!

Blog # 1 A few random ramblings.

This has been a strange and wonderful curved road leading up to this moment. I’ve always loved cameras from an early age grabbing my dad’s 35 mm Yashika whenever he would let me. During college I was able to sneak a minor in Photographic Arts into my degree. I was highly encouraged to get into “Business” and specifically the “Sales” side of things, decidedly not photo’s and the art side. Which meant Photography took a back seat to the real world and the trappings that come with it. The years between then and now, I took photo’s whenever I could, but it was what it was. Fast forward to February 2018 and a vacation to the Pacific Northwest with my girlfriend. It was a great trip with me running around the forests and beaches, completely different nature than this San Diego Native was used to. Long story short, that trip I decided to get back into Camera’s. (real Camera’s…”Pro” Camera’s) A lot of research and a lot of creative budgeting I got a Nikon two lens Camera Kit from a dealer in NY City. It was not the best Camera, but it is several levels above the bottom rung of professional and more importantly I could afford it. Nikon services it as part of it’s “Pro” services, good enough for me. This was a catalyst for transforming all my free time into photo sessions. I merged my love of hiking and the outdoors with my passion of photography. I also went on a gear acquisition bender lasting till, well, it’s still going. Lets just say, I can order a thousand bucks of various things from my NY City Dealer and not a blip from my Bank. But if I order a delivery pizza? Fraud alert!!!! Frozen account! True Story, I ordered a Papa John’s pizza and OMG, the process the next day of unlocking my account. A dear friend asked me to shoot items for her website, I agreed obviously, she’s a great friend. Well, after I shot her photo’s, I looked up and did the math of all the equipment’s cost I had in use. It was a large number and a little surprising, everything was purchased one and two at a time. But the realization, I had a studio, was a little shocking. Mean while other jobs were still coming in. Real Estate Photography is a surprisingly fun activity for me. Lighting a room to balance it’s fixtures with the ambient light coming in the window, while preserving wall color is a fun balancing act. This will be a future blog, but no your cell phone cannot do what my equipment can do. If it could, I’d still be running around forests or showing up to jobs with my Samsung.

So, that brings you up to today… Mostly. Over the last year or so, I’ve have various people in my life ask me to shoot various things for them. From Real Estate Professionals, Business owners and Friends all having a need of “Good” photo’s. One job, turned into two…etc and here we are. December of 2019, I made a decision to get out of Retail and so far it’s the best decision I’ve made, right after getting my camera. I was at a point I could do one or the other, but not both. I was working myself into the ground and not realizing it. So after some, a lot really, conversations. Here I am!!!

So, this blog… I’m really not sure what I’m going to do with it. I’ll probably highlight some job’s I’ve done, both past and present. I’ve got a neglected YouTube channel that I have a few ideas for some video’s. Mostly hiking and outdoors related, some How-to’s and documenting adventures. I’ll start a slow release of those as time permit’s. In the header there are five buttons; Main, Services, About, Contact and Blog, I’ll fill these out over time. I am pretty happy with the content and while I’ll fill/round it out, I don’t think I’ll add too much content there. I do have a 6th unpublished button/page, Personal Art. This page will be my personal images; Landscapes, Night/Star, Nature stuff that will be for sale. It will be a while before I turn this on. There is a process and it’s both time consuming and expensive. Basically, I’m sending images to a couple printers having them do artist proof’s. Because what looks good in print; is different than on my monitor, or tablet, or your phone. I need to figure out the settings for each image, on each media.

If you are still here, thank you for reading till the end. Thank you for visiting. Reach out and contact me if you need some work done.
